Please introduce yourself and give us a little background

Hi, I am Nic and I’ve lived in Westbourne for nearly 30 years. Home is a little cottage with the River Ems running alongside with my husband, son and two dogs. I love spending time with my daughter and grandson who live very close by. As an aromatherapist for 20 years I have a real passion for nature and natural products. Whilst I no longer practice massage therapy I wanted to use my skills to continue to support wellbeing.

How did you come up with the idea for Cariad?

As an aromatherapist for 20 years I have a real passion for nature and natural products. Whilst I no longer practice massage therapy I wanted to use my skills to continue to support wellbeing. Being a candle addict myself I was frustrated with candles that didn’t burn well and/or the aroma didn’t last. This was my starting point - beautiful well being aromas that lasted to the bottom of the candle and a good even burn.

Please describe your products in your own words / what makes them special?

Pure Cariad was named from a desire to include my welsh heritage and remember my dad who endeavoured to show us as children the beauty of Wales and a love of nature. Cariad is the Welsh word for love and every candle is poured with love.

In your experience, what impact does scent have on our lives?

The Pure Cariad range looks at mood and seasonal states and each one is about setting the scene. For example the Sleep aroma won’t send you to sleep but it will encourage restful sleep by helping to create a sleep ritual, deepening your breathing and quietening a busy mind. The seasons aromas are a flow through the year and are designed to take an essential oil from the previous season into the next. They are a way of easing you into a season and allowing the changes to sit comfortably with you or if preferred to bring some summer memories into your winter. I am an Autumn being so will happily burn Autumn all year round yet No5 Winter is definitely a December burn for me.

The aromas are blended to be long lasting and fill your chosen space. The wooden wick creates an even burn and crackle of a flame which changes depending on the amount of air it’s exposed to. All the products in the range are plastic free and designed to be refilled to avoid unnecessary waste. I have also tried to create a real addition to your home interior with the simple yet stylish finish of the products in the range.

What’s your favourite scent?

My favourite aroma is constantly changing and is very dependent on my mood or the mood I am trying to create. I do love Calm as it is a blend used in many massage treatments over my years as a therapist and it never failed to bring a sense of calm and de-stress. The perfect aroma for winding down and chilling out.

Where do you find inspiration for making new scents?

My inspiration for aromas often comes from the well being state I am trying to create and I will then work on the essential oils I know to benefit and create a blend of oils that complement and enhance each other.

I do hope you enjoy exploring the Pure Cariad aromas with Winter’s Moon and finding your favourite bring a sense of well being to you and your home.

Thank you so much to Nic for answering our questions! We hope you love the new candles as much as we do.
