Spring is slowly finding its feet now! The daffodils are already out in force, the sun is setting after 6pm (!) and there’s that familiar feeling of wanting to get outside or throw the windows open.

As usual, we’ve gathered a few things that have caught our eye recently, a thoughtful conversation about fashion, some spring walks and a book for a greener kind of spring clean and more.

Repair, Don't Replace

If you haven't come across Radical with Amol Rajan, it is well worth tuning in. This particular episode with Josephine Philips, founder of repair company SOJO really made us pause. She talks about the idea of bringing back a culture of repairing clothes rather than constantly replacing them, something that feels quietly refreshing in a world of fast fashion.

Jeff Buckley: It’s Never Over

Julia saw this amazing documentary last week and it's still in her head a week later.

For fans of Jeff Buckleys first and only album 'Grace', it's gives so much depth to his story and influences. Encouraging you listen to his music and extraordinary vocals with a new understanding. It's really beautifully done weaving together interviews with those close to him and archive footage.

Daffodil Walks

If you're ever lacking walking inspiration, then you need to know about Sally from The Ambling Path. She's always got fab local recommendations to share. For this time of year, she suggests; the wild daffodils at West Dean Woods, a peaceful loop near Farnham and a riverside wander in the New Forest. Just the sort of gentle outing these brighter March days seem to call for.

Spring Cleaning, Reimagined

'Home: DIY Recipes for a Toxin Free, Low Waste Life' Book by Natural Harry has just arrived in the shop and its had lots of interest already! Its full of practical ways to rethink everyday household products, from cleaning sprays to shampoo, using simple, natural ingredients. There's a recipe for a Summer Mist on page 166, that looks like a really lovely thing to have for the summer ahead!

Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art

We've been told about this exhibition at the V&A and it sounds right up our street. It’s the museum’s first major show dedicated to the surrealist fashion house Schiaparelli, bringing together incredible couture pieces, artworks and archival material. The playful collaborations with artists like Salvador Dalí make it all feel wonderfully imaginative. We’re thinking it could make for a lovely day trip in Easter.

100,000 Tulips to Enjoy

Our lovely Emma went last year and really enjoyed it, so flagging it for this year! Arundel Castle’s Tulip Festival is widely regarded as one of the best displays in Europe. When it begins, the gardens are filled with over 100,000 tulips in more than 120 varieties, creating an extraordinary sea of colour against the backdrop of the castle. They usually announce the start of the festival once everything begins to bloom, so it’s worth keeping an eye out!

We hope you have a lovely week ahead,

Until next time,

Julia xx
