We hope you’re all surviving the recent snow and sleet! The shop is back open, and there’s that gentle “awakening” feeling as we shake off the festive season and ease into January.

The days are still short and dark, so we thought we’d share a few things we’ve got our eye on, our Distractions & Inspirations to brighten winter days, give you something to look forward to, or simply make a cup of tea feel a little more enjoyable.

Wes Anderson Exhibition (Design Museum, London)

Over Twixmas we had a day out in London, and this exhibition was the highlight. It’s such a joy to wander through — full of colour, tiny details and all the things that make Wes Anderson films so special. Seeing the original sketches, props and sets up close gives you a real sense of how much care goes into every frame. If you love storytelling, design and beautiful creativity, it’s well worth a visit.

Hamnet

This one has been a big talking point for us, especially because so many of the team adored the book. The film is out now, starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, and tells the story of Agnes Hathaway, William Shakespeare, and the loss that went on to shape his writing of Hamlet. We’ve got high hopes… and the popcorn at the ready.

Mushroom Foraging on the South Downs

We’ve been feeling curious about foraging lately but not something you go alone! This guided South Downs course offers a relaxed woodland wander with knowledgeable leaders, learning about fungi and plants safely, with plenty of folklore, fresh air and a wild-food refreshment break along the way.

Shrinking (Apple TV, New Season)

If you haven’t discovered this show yet, you’re in for a treat. Shrinking tackles some of life’s biggest themes, grief and love but in a wonderfully messy and imperfect way. It manages to be dark and very funny, often all at once. One of those rare shows that feels deeply human and oddly comforting.

Foolproof Batch Cooking, Katie Marshall

This cookbook is full of the kind of recipes you actually want to make on repeat, like the courgette and feta soup with fresh pesto (pictured). Can confirm from the team that it makes a delicious lunch! The book is practical without being boring, ideal for cooking ahead, and feels like the sort of book you’ll keep reaching for when you want good food without too much faff.

Chichester Supper Club

This is a lovely local event we’re really pleased to share and support! Foraged Hope’s Supper Club is all about bringing people together in a relaxed, welcoming way, swapping recipes, sharing life hacks and chatting about wellness and health with like-minded people… with supper included.

Let's us know if you\ve enjoyed any of the above!
